I discovered the Mission Houses Museum Cafe & Tea Room after moving to the neighborhood. As I explored the grounds of the Mission Houses Museum, I spied a cafe with a welcoming "Open" sign! None of my friends had heard of it, but apparently the secret has gotten out: the place is packed at lunch-time. I go early or late so that I can get a seat in the peaceful garden. The wrought-iron furniture, hanging plants, and leafy shade trees create a delightful oasis in the middle of the concrete jungle. The staff is warm and friendly, and they quickly learn your name and your preferences. The food is delicious, the raspberry iced-tea is refreshing, and the ambience is truly special.
